So here we are on day 3 in Barcelona. Our consensus is we love the city. It is extremely walkable lots of things to see and if museums were our things lots of top notch museums. Our day today is the “hop on-off” bus. Although not for everyone, Dan and I like the commentary a chance to hear something we might have missed and also see parts of the outer reaches of the city we haven’t seen or will see. We have 2 days of >17000 steps so we are okay with an off day.
It is Easter Sunday and all the tourists and locals are out but many of the businesses are closed not that we need to go into a shopping mall. The markets are closed so the entertainment value is gone. Today the first stop is the skyway on Montjuic and the a walk on the trails around the Castell obviously an old fort on a bluff overlooking the harbor. Our weather today is sunny with a wind but pleasant to be out and about.
Next stop is the waterfront on these tours we go by the facilities from the 1992 Olympic Games. Lots of street statutes and art. Lunch is at a Mexican restaurant. Leaving lots to be desired. Should’ve found something a little more upscale but we are after adventure and there seem to be lots of locals there. Food was fresh and a bano available. What more can you want. A walk along the waterfront to see the beach and even past the casino (didn’t want to press our luck).
Spent the rest of the day on the bus only 10000 steps but tired. I search for a restaurant close by. Unfortunately nothing opens until 8pm, we came upon an Italian restaurant. Yes. Mexican for lunch Italian for dinner makes perfect sense. Great dinner, a bottle of wine and short walk home stopping at the coffee shop to get pastry for the morning since we leave for a tour of Montserrat before the hotel dining room is open since it will be Easter Monday which is as much or more of a holiday than Sunday
